I transferred my number from another carrier, but my texts are still going to the old phone

Follow

There are a couple of reasons this could be happening. The first is that the texting part of the number transfer hasn’t completed yet. It may take an extra 48 hours for the texting portion to complete.

The second possibility is that you transferred from an iPhone and your number is still tied into iMessaging. Try the steps below to correct this:

  •          On the iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > iMessage and uncheck your number of reception. If this doesn’t fix it, continue to the next step.
  •          On the iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out. Next, go to Settings > FaceTime. Again, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out. If this doesn’t fix it, continue to the next step.
  •          Change your Apple ID password. If this doesn’t fix it, continue to the next step.
  •          Finally, go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and select Manage your Apple ID. Log in with your Apple ID and password, select Phone Numbers from the left column, and delete the number from your account.
