Muting the Camera Sound

Follow

You can mute the camera sound but not with the stock camera app. If muting the camera sound is a must, you’ll need to download an app called Camera ICS from the Play Store. Below are steps on how to mute the camera and set up Camera ICS so it performs as closely to the stock camera as possible.

Muting the Camera

Download and open Camera ICS.

Touch the icon that looks like three stacked lines on the lower left of the screen.

A new menu will appear; tap the three stacked dots on the left.

You should now be presented with a screen that says Camera settings.

Switch Silent mode to ON.

Now every time you use Camera ICS, there will be no camera sound.

Setting Up Camera ICS

Open Camera ICS.

Touch the icon that looks like three stacked lines.

A new menu will appear; tap the three stacked dots on the left.

You should now be presented with a screen that says Camera settings. You’ll be changing a few settings here.

Scroll down to Volume keys and touch the arrow next to Default until it says Zoom +/- .

Now you can use the manual volume buttons on the side of your phone to zoom in and out.

If you go to Storage source and touch the arrow next to Internal, you can change it to SD card, which allows you to store photos on your SD card rather than on your phone’s internal memory. If you have a large SD card, we recommend maximizing the picture quality by scrolling up to JPEG quality and tapping the arrow on the right side of the current setting until it says Ultra.

Using Camera ICS

With Camera ICS, you’ll be able to use the camera button to take photos as usual—and most of the time, if you hold the camera button, it will pull up Camera ICS just as it would the stock app. But if you ever see an error saying the camera can’t start, just let it sit for a second or two and Camera ICS should open without a problem.
