To clarify, I'm not yet a customer of Scratch Wireless and I want to know if wi-fi voice on the Coolpad will work with a SBG901 before I make the purchase.
Since the SBG901 doesn't support VOIP, I would like to know if the Scratch wi-fi will work with the SBG901. Has anyone here setup wi-fi with a SBG901?

VOIP does not require a special modem when used with a Scratch phone. Your modem just considers VOIP as data from your phone.
With that said, the Motorola SBG901 is a slow (low range) G router that may limit the phone quality if you get too far from the router. I know my sound quality will get poor if I am using my phone while in my garage since I have a cheap router.
Newer routers will have a feature called QOS (quality or service). This feature will give priority to the device you choose (your phone). This is helpful when someone in your home is watching HD videos while you are on the phone. QOS will make sure your phone does not get cut-off when someone else is consuming most of the internet connection.
If you decide to upgrade, any DOCSIS 3.0 modem should be quite sufficient. A router that is well liked on home multi-media forums is the Asus RT-N66 or RT-AC66.
